What is Tea Time, exactly?

Tea Time is where five-ish strangers sit at a cafe with a Host to have a two hour conversation. It's not about anything in particular.

You're meant to know pretty much nothing about the people that come, aside from the fact that they all signed up for thisΒ β€” just like you. It's self-selecting in that sense.

However, it may bring you comfort to know a little something about your Host. If so, just keep reading

Meet your Host, Ben.

(It'll be helpful to know what they look like when you're looking for a group of confused strangers at the cafe.)

I'm a host because I enjoy novel interactions. Feeling joy from unexpected connections is the seedling of community. And finding new perspectives to broaden our experience helps us grow. I wasn't always an outgoing and communicative person. My style while in the educational system was quiet and shy. I intentionally work to develop and am always curious to learn new ways of thinking and engaging.

What's your story?

I'm a person who learns the rules in order to know which are rigid, which are flexible, and which rules to ignore. This attitude has led to both my success and my failures (when the risks do not work out in my favor).

What might we talk about?

I like to find discussion topics that are specific to the people I'm talking with. I care about drawing out truths of experience. Dancing in introspection with curiosity and humor is my goal. A sense of awkwardness is acceptable for me, as it indicates there's an unknown or unexplored idea.
