What is Tea Time, exactly?

Tea Time is where five-ish strangers sit at a cafe with a Host to have a two hour conversation. It's not about anything in particular.

You're meant to know pretty much nothing about the people that come, aside from the fact that they all signed up for this — just like you. It's self-selecting in that sense.

However, it may bring you comfort to know a little something about your Host. If so, just keep reading

Meet your Host, Kayla.

(It'll be helpful to know what they look like when you're looking for a group of confused strangers at the cafe.)

Hello wonderful, curious human! How’s your heart today?

Good? OH YEAH? What’s good!?!

Not so good? I love you (did I just say that, yeah I did), I’m here for you - what’s going on?

We’ve got all these thoughts, feelings, ideas, stories, scenarios, dreams going on in our noggins all the time that we probably only share 3% of because we’re scared of what people think and yadda yadda yadda and you know what?! FORGETTA ‘BOUT IT!

I wanna hear the other 97% of brilliant, hilarious, imaginative, silly thoughts you have and I’ll bet you a piece of a kitkat bar that your 5 new instant, open-minded, open-hearted friends you’ll be having tea with soon wanna hear them, too.

Every tea time I’ve gone to has left me in awe and warm.. you know that feeling you get when you drink uh…tea? Yeah, kinda like that. So, whatchya waiting for? LET’S GET TEA (or coffee, or wine, or drinkable cheese…?)

What's your story?

Iranian gal born in Saudi Arabia, raised in the Bay Area. Lover of pancakes, people, places, and potatoes. I like to take the long way home, drink Persian tea by the gallon, and write poems on my bedroom floor at 3am. I used to hate apples, but now I love them. I grew up listening to Tony Robbins CD’s in my mom’s car on the way to school and now I listen to his podcast on my way to work (I can’t quite explain why but that humors me in a warm and fuzzy way). I don’t know how to walk in a straight line (I tend to gravitate towards the closest person or tree next to me), I LOVE the free U2 album that came on my and every other iPhone users device in 2014, I wrote my undergraduate thesis on modern romance, and my favorite color is orange. I use parenthesis a lot, I like to live my life in a yes-and kinda way, and I'm learning + un-learning every day.

What might we talk about?

Love (unrequited and almost returned), what brings you joy (something about that word that’s just so ‘70s-esque it makes me laugh), where your happy place is, what you’re attracted to (in the most general sense), what you saw on your commute this morning, things that give you hope, what keeps you up at night, lessons learned, your favorite quote and how you found it, the best advice you’ve ever received, your favorite form of art, any and everything else you want to talk about, you cool cat! As Lindsay Lohan once said, "THE LIMIT DOES NOT EXIST!"

Never have I ever: had a bad tea time
