What is Tea Time, exactly?

🍡

Tea Time is where five-ish strangers sit at a cafe with a Host to have a two hour conversation. It's not about anything in particular.

You're meant to know pretty much nothing about the people that come, aside from the fact that they all signed up for thisΒ β€” just like you. It's self-selecting in that sense.

However, it may bring you comfort to know a little something about your Host. If so, just keep reading

Meet your Host, Daniel.

(It'll be helpful to know what they look like when you're looking for a group of confused strangers at the cafe.)

Hello dear stranger! I'm so excited at the prospect of getting to know you and a few other humans over tea.

My life purpose is unconditional self-love. Everything else I do, including tea time, rolls up into that.

What's your story?

I'm Daniel. I value authentic self-expression, integrity, presence, play, and growth. That shows up in things like performing improv, meditating, journaling, noticing and sharing what's true for me, reading, and listening to podcasts.

I spent most of 2017 solo-traveling -- camping in the jungle in Nicaragua, staying at a Buddhist monastery in France, and working at a coding bootcamp in Kenya.

Now I'm back in the bay area, figuring out how to integrate the 100,000 things I learned abroad into a more sustainable daily life.

What might we talk about?

Tea time with Daniel is ever so slightly different from other tea times. I value authentic and vulnerable connection, so I try and hold space in a way that's compassionate and nonjudgemental. It's a place that's safe to share your real experience, whatever it is that comes up for you. I've found that people have more in common than we often see.

I'm super interested in interpersonal relating, i.e. what's it like for us to be here together right now?

What's going on in your life? What's been the highlight of your last 7 days? What's been the lowlight? What are you excited about? What are you dreading? How are you changing? What part of you is staying the same?
