What is Tea Time, exactly?

🍵

Tea Time is where five-ish strangers sit at a cafe with a Host to have a two hour conversation. It's not about anything in particular.

You're meant to know pretty much nothing about the people that come, aside from the fact that they all signed up for this — just like you. It's self-selecting in that sense.

However, it may bring you comfort to know a little something about your Host. If so, just keep reading

Meet your Host, Jiaorui.

(It'll be helpful to know what they look like when you're looking for a group of confused strangers at the cafe.)

How often do you Google yourself and find out none of the people in your home country share the same name as you do? In my case, I found out that I am literally one in a billion (props to my grandparents for digging through the dictionary). That gives me a reason to justify that I am unique . I love to look back and be able to connect the dots and figure out how I got to where I am.  I believe stories give people identities and I'm always curious about other people's ideas and stories - so let's go over them over tea (or coffee, or cider, or whatever else you feel like drinking)!

What's your story?

I've made it to Australian television. I've been featured in newspapers in China and in the US. I've walked on an active volcano in Iceland. I've been on London Eye's only orange capsule. I've held an Emmy (with picture proof). My manager once got me a plaque that said "World's Best Entry Level Employee". That about sums up my achievements in life. Disclaimer: exaggerations may have been involved.

I've witnessed a pelican bullying an old couple. I discovered that squirrels love Doritos. I am a confirmed supertaster. I own a sweatshirt that says "One in a Minion". I am constantly hitting my toes against tables.  I also constantly worry about birds pooping on me. I can't stop scrolling through stupid (but funny) internet things. The list goes on and on.

What might we talk about?

Anything that's on your (or our) mind(s) - Why can't the weather make up its mind about whether or not it's spring already? Why do our favorite food places always end up leaving us? Why do we always end up in the slowest line in the grocery store? Why is it so hard to figure out if you should pull or push the door open? Where do brilliant ideas come from? What is that barista thinking right now?Anything interesting about your life story that you want to share - family/friends/life decisions/food options/useless facts you know/what led you here/random things you passed by...really, anything.

þetta reddast (It will all work out okay).
