Southern-California born and honorary Bostonian for 2.5 years now. I've been hosting with Tea with Strangers for about the same amount of time, and I've loved every second! In these 2.5 years, I've moved from corporate life to start-up land, moved into the city from Cambridge with two of my best friends, fallen in love, and grown in ways I would have never imagined.
What's your story?
I'm still trying to figure out what I'm about. I recently turned 25, and feel the most unsure about almost every area of my life (work, family, relationships, spirituality) than I can remember. Call it a quarter-life crisis, I guess? These are my common threads in my life: I love making people laugh, I love to dance, cook (recently learning dishes from my mother's homeland of Peru) and sing, I am very curious about people, and I would say I'm a good listener. What excites me includes witnessing beautiful performance art, like a flawless vocal performance, a wild big-band number, or an emotive modern dance piece. What also excites me is learning about people or organizations that are trying to fix the U.S. healthcare system--a dream of mine is to meaningfully contribute to that solution.
I'm where I am because I have a strong desire to be independent- to venture out on my own and create a life for myself, based on my own interests and dreams. That is what Boston has done for me, and I will be forever grateful to this city for the experiences it has given me.
How do I spend my free time? Not productively enough! I can get lost in Youtube spirals...one minute I'm watching a documentary about Eleanor Roosevelt, and the next I'm watching a monkey in a cowboy costume riding a pig. I've been wanting to focus my free time on online classes or interesting Meetups, so if you have any recs or need a buddy, I'm your girl!
